Tim Hinton - The 2020 Marching Season
Last week, I had the opportunity to connect with Tim Hinton (Composer, Arranger, and Host of the outstanding padcast, Marching Roundtable). None of us are sure what the 2020 Marching Season is going to look like. However, one thing is clear: we have to be ready for all possibilities and begin planning now.
In our conversation, we discussed a wide range of topics including recruiting using an online platform and social media. We also talked about what about auditions and student leadership and what the roles of the student leaders should include. In this situation, it is imperative to engage and utilize on of your greatest resources, the student leadership team.
We also talked about ideas of what the 2020 season could bring our way and how band directors have a unique opportunity to make a positive impact in their communities once schools and communities reopen.
Because none of us know what the future brings, it is clear that we need to be flexible and we need to begin planning now for the possible outcomes and for the greatest success.
